Message from the Dean
Welcome to the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance site. Here you will find details about exceptional educational opportunities for current and future teachers as well as for prospective health and human performance professionals. The theme that underlies the school’s conceptual framework is “making the teaching-learning connection.” Our faculty, students, and alumni participate in critical and valued connections, collaborations, and partnerships within the college, community, nation, and globe. Our laboratories, classrooms, and outreach and service centers provide opportunities for our students and faculty to be involved in meaningful research, service and learning.
We take pride in our nationally accredited teacher education programs and long history of excellence. We offer undergraduate and masters degree programs for initial teacher certification, as well as programs for those seeking advanced masters degrees and certificates. Our athletic training education program is also nationally accredited and our majors in exercise sciene and public health are among the fastest growing programs at the College of Charleston.
Our faculty and staff members are respected for excellent teaching, meaningful research, and commitment to improving the state of health and education. We are serious about self-assessment and use data for decision-making and future planning. We are a dynamic school, proud of our accomplishments and enthusiastic about our strategic plan guiding us toward significant accomplishments in the next decade.
