School of Education, Health, and Human Performance

The School of Education, Health, and Human Performance, located at 86 Wentworth Street, houses the school’s administration offices, Alumni Center, and the Jeremy Warren Vann Teacher Education Center. The Office of Student Services and Certification is located on the first floor and Department of Teacher Education faculty and staff offices are housed on the second and third floors.


Charles and Andrea Volpe Center for Teaching and Learning

The Charles and Andrea Volpe Center for Teaching and Learning, on the second floor of the Thaddeus Street Education Center, provides state-of-the-art classroom facilities for faculty and teacher education candidates. The Volpes are longtime supporters of the College of Charleston; Andi Volpe currently serves on the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance Advisory Board.


Willard Silcox Physical Education and Health Center
F. Mitchell Johnson Physical Education Center

Located adjacent to the Carolina First Arena on George Street, the Willard Silcox Physical Education and Health Center and the F. Mitchell Johnson Physical Education Center are home to the Department of Health Education and Human Performance. The complex has three gymnasiums that include six basketball courts, four volleyball courts, and six badminton courts. Also available are eight racquetball courts, six lighted tennis courts, indoor track, padded gymnastics room, dance studio, and fitness conditioning area complete with free weights, weight machines, stationary bikes, rowing machines, stair climbers, and treadmills. Locker and shower areas are also available. A 25-meter swimming pool is located at the Theodore S. Stern Student Center. The Willard Silcox Physical Education and Health Center also houses physical education department offices, classrooms, and human performance laboratories.


N.E. Miles Early Childhood Development Center

The N.E. Miles Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) at 91 Wentworth Street is a learning laboratory for children ages two through five. College of Charleston undergraduate and graduate classes in teacher education and psychology use the ECDC as an observation and training facility.
