Teacher Education Program Accreditation

NCATE Accredited Institution 

The Teacher Education program at the College of Charleston has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) since October 15, 1999.  The most recent review was held in Fall 2012 for initial and advanced programs.  The next accreditation review will be held in 2020 by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

    • Foreign Languages -  American Council on the Teaching of a Foreign Language (ACTFL)
    • Mathematics - National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)
    • Middle Grades Education - Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE)
    • Physical Education - SHAPE America- Physical Education (formerly NASPE)
    • History, Political Science, Sociology - National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS)
    • Special Education - Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
