Cultivating the Learning:  Level 1 Competency-Based Personalized Learning

3 hours graduate PD credit

Course Description:

This course is an introduction to the theory and research behind personalized learning and the basics of designing personalized learning that support student attainment of core academic content and such 21st century skills as critical and analytical thinking, communication, personal agency, collaboration, and technology proficiency. This course is centered around the text A Handbook for Personalized Competency-Based Education which serves as a strong introduction to Personalized Learning at all levels of K-12. As this is a hands-on course relating to the C of C conceptual framework and theme of making the teaching and learning connection it allows participants an opportunity to practice the lessons and implement basic ideas supporting current research in student-centered learning from both practical and pedagogical approaches.

Behavior is Language:  Strategies for Managing Disruptive Behavior

Course Description:

Behavior is Language is a 3 hour PD course that is designed to give you a new perspective on student behavior and effective tools for facilitating positive student change. Behavior is Language provides a developmental framework for understanding what students are trying to tell you through the “language” of their behavior.  The course teaches behavioral techniques and intervention strategies that remediate disruptive behaviors, reduce power struggles while increasing classroom control and reduce your workloads and burnout. This program helps you, as well as students, find creative, effective solutions to behavioral problems.
